Bas-Delta 117

Bas-Delta 117 is highly recommended as an environmentally friendly substitute for glass fibers in different cementitious applications.

Bas-Delta 117 is a chopped strand fiber obtained from a basalt roving from which fibers are obtained in the predetermined lengths. This product has a synthetic-based sizing that gives it increased properties of resistance to alkalis and acids in cement. It is designed for application in precast concrete panels, in high-performance mortars, and can also be used in concrete floors in general, performing well. Due to the high number of fibers/cm³ that are homogeneously and three-dimensionally distributed within the mix, the control of cracking, especially during the setting and hardening phase of the manufactured product, happens in an efficient way.

Description
Bas-Delta 117 is a chopped strand fiber obtained from a basalt roving from which fibers are obtained in the predetermined lengths. This product has a synthetic-based sizing that gives it increased properties of resistance to alkalis and acids in cement.

Due to the high number of fibers/cm³ that are homogeneously and three-dimensionally distributed within the mix, the control of cracking, especially during the setting and hardening phase of the manufactured product, happens in an efficient way.

Bas-Delta 117 is added to the cement mixture to improve the mechanical properties and the service performance of the surface.

The addition of basalt fiber into the cement mixture can improve the fracture resistance of the floor, can prevent and counteract the formation of cracks, and can significantly extend the service life of the pavement.
Characteristics
Characteristics of Bas-Delta 117:
Excellent mechanical property
Outstanding dispersion
Good stability at high temperatures
Good crack resistance at low temperature

Warnings

Basalt fibers, as for all mineral fibers, require control over mixing times, which must be suitable for the type of mixer used to achieve maximum results. The ideal type of mixer should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to optimize mixing times and avoid crushing the product.

The use of Bas-Delta 117 basalt fibers does not exclude the utmost care in the production of concrete, which must consider the normal precautions for good execution (good quality of materials, appropriate aggregate curve, low w/c ratio and use of fluidizers...) and compliance with standards and prescriptions. It is important not to reduce the prescribed amount of cement per m³ and not to reduce the thicknesses of the works.
